The reporting requirements in the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS)
Installation operators in the European Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) are required to submit various reports to their respective national authorities on a regular basis.
These primarily include the monitoring plan, the allocation data report and the annual CO2 report.
Furthermore, all necessary documents such as procedural instructions, measurement methods, etc. must be constantly checked for up-to-dateness and approved by the German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt) before planned changes are made.
Each of these key elements requires special attention by the operator and its representatives to ensure correct, consistent, complete and timely reporting. Failure to do so, or to do so only partially, may constitute an administrative offence for which fines of up to 500,000 euros may be levied.
